About Brainstorm

For the time being, Brainstorm is the brainchild of Joel Hawkins--that'd be me.  I've dreamed of starting this ministry since I graduated college what seems a lifetime ago.  

About Me:  I have a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministry/Adolescent Studies from Judson University (class of '02) and a Master of Arts in Youth Ministry from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary.  

Why I decided to start Brainstorm:   To make a long story short, after 10 years in "full-time" youth ministry (if you're in youth ministry you know why it's in quotation marks) I felt the nudging of the Spirit to get into resource development and providing brainstorming services to churches who simply need an outsider to challenge them to think outside their box.  Having hit the roadblock of not being taken too seriously within the publishing industry I felt directed to pursue this website project.  

I hope you find something on here that's helpful.  I welcome suggestions about my site/ministry and requests for new resources.  I have a lot of projects I'm working on and I hope to be able to continually provide new and helpful resources as well as thought-provoking/heart-lifting personal writings.  

My dream would be able to provide everything for free, but being a stay-at-home dad I need to help provide for my growing family.  That said, in the near future you should be able to purchase items like some of the books I'm working on writing.   Maybe one day Brainstorm will be more than just me.
